Our Mission
Molten's mission is to become a valuable part of your sports experience no matter what game you are playing. Our goal is to provide you with the best product value and a better experience. By that we mean giving you the best possible product regardless the level of competition. We strive to give you a better experience by standing behind our product guarantees and offering pleasant, prompt and competent customer service. And we do it all with the goal that you will think of Molten…for whatever game you are playing.
Who We Are
Founded in 1958 with worldwide headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan, Molten is a worldwide conglomerate that only entered the United States in 1983. Originally located in Southern California, Molten moved their U.S. headquarters to Sparks, NV in 1988.
Molten has a storied history. By 1964, only six years after their founding, Molten basketballs, volleyballs and soccer balls were the official balls of the Tokyo Olympics. Since that time Molten has been the official basketball for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. Molten basketballs have also been the official ball for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) for the past 25 years culminating in the Men's and Women's World Basketball Championship. This championship was held in the U.S. for the first time in Indianapolis, IN August of 2002.
Molten volleyballs became the official ball for the U.S. National Teams in 1997 and remain so to this day. In 2001 we added the boys and girls Junior National teams to this list. Today, clubs, regions, high schools, colleges and tournaments throughout the country are playing with Molten volleyballs.
Where possible, Molten owns and operates our own factories as opposed to shopping on the open market. This philosophy allows us to control our quality right down to the raw materials, bringing in only the best the world has to offer.
Our staff in Sparks consists of sports enthusiasts who have been involved in sports one way or another since our youth. Some of us have played or coached at the collegiate level while some of us have children who do so now. We enjoy being able to pursue our passion and help to improve the sports experience for others.
